We have previously discussed vacuum gas-quenching furnaces featuring a top-and-bottom opposing gas-flow design, as well as dual-purpose furnaces capable of both convective heating and gas-quenching/tempering. While dual-chamber vacuum oil-quenching furnaces can handle the vast majority of standard metal molds, vacuum gas-quenching furnaces utilizing a duct-based airflow structure are often preferred for products with strict dimensional stability requirements. Compared to dual-chamber vacuum oil-quenching furnaces, this type results in less distortion—reducing the risk of cracking and keeping dimensional changes within the 0.15–0.3 mm range—while offering better cost-effectiveness than the top-and-bottom opposing flow models.
