Vacuum Annealing Process for Inconel 718 Nickel-Based High-Temperature Alloy

1. Introduction

In aerospace applications, it forms jet engine turbine disks, compressor blades, casings, and rocket engine propellant pumps. Within energy and chemical industries, it serves as gas turbine rotors, nuclear reactor fasteners, and acid-resistant valves and drilling tools for deep oil wells. Furthermore, it stands as the material of choice for metal 3D printing to manufacture high-performance complex structural components.

2. Process

To prevent oxidation, relieve stress, and soften Inconel 718 during heat treatment, vacuum annealing is an essential process:

1. Low-temperature preheating: 650°C, hold for 30 minutes;

2. High-temperature preheating: 850°C, hold for 30 minutes;

3. High-temperature annealing: 980°C, hold for 1 hour;

4. Rapid cooling.
