Application of vacuum sintering furnace in titanium alloy

2026-02-26 09:56

1. Properties and Applications of Titanium Alloys

Titanium alloys are alloys composed of titanium as the base material, with added elements such as aluminum, vanadium, and molybdenum. They possess higher mechanical strength and excellent heat resistance than pure titanium, while maintaining low density and extremely strong corrosion resistance. They can withstand extreme temperatures and high pressure environments, making them core materials for aerospace engines, submarine structures, and high-performance racing car components.

2. The Mechanism of Vacuum Sintering in Powder Metallurgy

Vacuum sintering is a key step in titanium alloy powder metallurgy, its main function being to physically bond and densify metal powder particles through a high-temperature and vacuum environment. At temperatures close to the melting point, titanium alloy powder particles gradually shrink and close pores through mechanisms such as atomic diffusion, viscous flow, and evaporation-condensation, thereby transforming the loose compact into a high-density solid material.

3. Specific Temperature Profiles and Steps for Titanium Sintering

The following are the specific steps for vacuum sintering of titanium alloys:

  1. 1. Initial heating: Raise the temperature from room temperature to 450℃ and hold for 80 minutes.
  2. 2. Preheating stage: Raise the temperature from 450℃ to 900℃ and hold for 60 minutes.
  3. 3. High-temperature sintering: Raise the temperature from 900℃ to 1300℃ and hold for 180 minutes.
  4. 4. Natural cooling: Allow the temperature to cool naturally from 1300℃ to 800℃.
