Characteristics of chemical heat treatment
1. Improve the wear resistance of parts
High carbon martensite hardened surface can be obtained by carburizing and quenching of steel parts. The diffusion hardening surface of alloy nitrides can be obtained by nitriding in alloy steel parts. The surface hardness of steel parts obtained by these two methods can reach HRC58 ~ 62 and HV800 ~ 1200 respectively.
2. Improve the fatigue strength of parts
Carburizing, nitriding, soft nitriding and carburizing can effectively improve the fatigue strength of steel parts by forming residual compressive stress on the surface of steel parts while strengthening the surface.
3. Improve the corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance of parts
For example, nitriding can improve the anti-atmospheric corrosion performance of parts. When the steel parts are aluminized, chromated and siliconized, they interact with oxygen or corrosive media to form dense and stable Al2O3, Cr2O3 and SiO2 protective films to improve corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance.
Common chemical heat treatment methods
There are many methods of chemical heat treatment, most of which are named after infiltrated elements or formed compounds, such as carburizing, nitriding, boronizing, sulfurating, aluminizing, chromizing, siliconizing, carbonitriding, oxynitriding, cyanosis, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen, boron, and titanium carbide (nitrogen).
